I began with some research into how autonomous vehicles as I really didn’t have any knowledge when starting this project. I looked into images of concepts for the vehicles and some ones that have been developed. I used my usual method of mind maps writing down the features of the vehicles which I could use within my designs.

After this I researched into how the autonomous vehicles actually function and work including the levels of automation. During this research, I came across three words commonly of autonomous, automated and self driving, so I looked into what the difference between all of them are.

As I didn’t know anything about the type of vehicles, I looked into how they work. I found a common theme in my research which is that the vehicles face alot of challenges before they actually make it onto the roads, so I decided to look into that to see if I could try to avoid them in my design. However, as well as this I did look into what the benefits of the autonomous vehicles are. Taking all this information I had found, I creating a mind map, brainstorming all my inital ideas to get them down on paper.

Autonomous vehicles are much more prominent in America rather than the UK and Europe, so when I was looking for information about it, most is based off of the American audience. I was surprised by the number of companies that have investments in the self driving industry, some which were more successful than others.
